Local Perspective
Little Italy is one of the neighborhoods I show when a client wants Downtown convenience but also wants a strong neighborhood identity. Despite its urban location, there’s a genuine sense of place here—from the restaurants and neighborhood plazas to the waterfront and weekly activity around the community.
Neighborhood Highlights
Food and dining are naturally a major part of Little Italy, but the neighborhood offers much more than restaurants. Waterfront Park, neighborhood gathering spaces, cafes, boutiques, public art, and pedestrian-friendly streets make it easy to spend time outside. Its location also puts residents between Downtown’s business core and the waterfront.
Homes & Architecture
Housing consists primarily of condominiums and apartments, ranging from smaller residences in established buildings to newer luxury developments. Some units offer views toward San Diego Bay or the Downtown skyline, while others place more emphasis on being within walking distance of the neighborhood’s restaurants and gathering spaces.
Little Italy San Diego
A Neighborhood That Celebrates All Year Long
Little Italy is more than one of San Diego’s most recognizable dining districts. Throughout the year, its piazzas, streets, restaurants, markets, and public spaces come alive with community events that celebrate food, art, culture, local businesses, and the neighborhood’s Italian heritage.
From weekly markets and summer evenings to major culinary celebrations and holiday traditions, there is almost always something happening in the neighborhood.
Weekly Tradition

The Little Italy Mercato brings the neighborhood together every week with fresh produce, artisan foods, local makers, flowers, specialty goods, and live neighborhood energy. The market is held on Saturdays, with a smaller Wednesday market offering another opportunity to experience Little Italy at a more relaxed pace.
